Absence
Attending school 95% of the year is critical to a child’s academic success. In the event a child must be absent or tardy, please call the school attendance line by 8:00 a.m. and give the following information:
- Your name
- Student’s first and last name
- Reason for the absence
- Date the student will be absent
- Attendance line: 303-982-8060
A call to the attendance line must be made each day a child is absent. Prompt contact regarding absences is a vital part of our safety plan to ensure all children are accounted for each day.
Jeffco policy states that a student will be considered truant if they have four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year.
Pre-Arranged Absence
Red Rocks Elementary asks parents to limit elective absences outside of school vacation days and make-up requests of teachers. Teachers cannot provide real-time make-up work or remote learning during vacations.
If your child needs a pre-arranged absence, submit the Red Rocks Pre-arranged Absence Form to the office at least three days in advance.
Early Pick Up
Red Rocks Elementary asks parents to limit early pickup as much as possible. Only a designated adult on the child’s Jeffco Connect account may sign out or pick up the child.
After the student is signed out, the office will call the classroom to release the student. Adults should not go to the classroom directly to pick up the child.
Attendance in Jeffco
The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.
It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
